Workcamp Update sent on Tuesday, July 19, 2011

Hi all,

Another great day at camp. We had a hot day yesterday, probably in the upper 80's low 90's. Today, we had rain in the morning and it cooled things off a bit and the campers were hard at work, enjoying the "reprieve". In this evening's program, we focused on how we "label" others and ourselves. Each youth then made a label with various symbols describing themselves, such as; are you focused on your looks, money, popularity, do you seek peer approval, are you smart,, etc. These symbols were placed on a name tag and each person put the name tag on their chest. They were then given the choice of leaving with their "labels" on or placing them at the cross, followed by a short prayer or blessing with one of the youth leaders. Very powerful Tuesday evening experience.

Tomorrow, the campers work a half day. Then we are going to the mall and will probably catch an afternoon movie. Tomorrow night is our variety show were some of the youth will share their talents.

The forecast for Friday is the high 90's. Keep praying for cool weather! So far, no major casualties. A few bee stings but that's about it.

I have sent some pictures from my camera phone but it only works half the time. Also, as a site coach supervisor, I only see about 6 or our youth each day and I have evening responsibilities, so I can't get the variety of pics I would like. Dave Ramsay has uploaded pictures to his Facebook page so "friend" Dave and check them out. I'll laugh if he mentions he received a ton of "friend" requests tomorrow! While your on Facebook, don't forget to check out "TrinityShine", our youth's facebook page.

Peace in His Blessed Assurance,

Craig Larson, Senior High Youth Coordinator
