Parish Nurses

Parish Nurses Available

What is a Parish Nurse?  The Parish Nurse is a registered nurse with a broad background of nursing experience.  She may be a volunteer or paid staff member of the church with the responsibility of promoting wellness of body, mind, and spirit among the members of the congregation and the community.

The Parish Nurse supports individuals and small groups by serving as a health educator, health counselor, liaison to community resources, and coordinator of volunteers for caring ministry.  What does this mean for YOU?

A Parish Nurse is available to:
  • discuss & explain unfamiliar health issues – new diagnosis or medication
  • assist you to connect with needed resources – find a doctor, get a flu shot, locate home health care, etc.
  • listen & pray with you – care for your body, mind & spirit
  • teach and counsel for optimal health – education for stewardship of the body God has entrusted to you
  • explore end of life, reproductive, & other ethical issues – from God’s perspective
Private – Confidential – Customized to your needs.  Contact Jean Ruffin at 630/390-3081.
